Medicare Alliance is a diverse group of patients, doctors, hospitals, service providers, and others committed to making comprehensive and affordable health care for every man, woman, and child in our country a reality.

The Alliance creates and maintains strategic partnerships with patients, stakeholders, physicians, and experts to provide a variety of perspectives on Medicare for All to policymakers. Community outreach, events and online engagement are some of the ways we are working with allies to engage and create awareness around the importance of protecting and strengthening healthcare for everyone.

Why We Need Medicare for All

  •
    1. We spend more on health care and have nothing to show for it

The United States spends just over $10,000 per capita on health care. Meanwhile, countries like Canada, the UK, France, and Germany spend just $4,826, $4,246, $4,902, $5,728 per person, respectively, on health care. Despite the fact the US spends the most on health care, health care outcomes in the US are worse than the countries mentioned.

  •
    2. Our health care system puts profits ahead of people.

Pharmaceutical companies are making a killing with over $50 billion in profits last year. Meanwhile, one out of five Americans can’t afford to fill their doctor-prescribed medication.

  •
    3. Everyone should have access to affordable health care

Medicare for All will provide affordable, comprehensive health care to everyone in our country without the need for insurance premiums, deductibles, or co-payments while also cover dental, vision, and hearing.

  •
    4. Medicare for All is the most cost-effective health care plan.

Medicare for All could save hundreds of billions over the next 10 years by reducing costs associated with insurance companies (like paperwork and billing), negotiate with drug companies under new legislation, and provide care for those who need it, when they need it – avoiding expensive trips to the ER through preventative care.

  •
    5. Medicare for All saves middle class families thousands of dollars.

Under Medicare for All, middle class families (more than half of the US), would save $3,000 a year, on average and would spend 14% less of their income on health care.
